Lucy (Ditmar) Van Wyk

VAN WYK - On Thursday, May 14, 2009, Lucy Van Wyk (nee Ditmar) died peacefully at her home in Curries with her loving family at her side. Lucy was in her 75th year and was the beloved wife of Ted for over 53 years. She was a devoted mother to all of her children: Bob (Diana) of Sweaburg, Mary-Ann (Doug) Peart, of Hagersville, Ted (Jeanette) of Waterloo, Lucy of Woodstock, and Dave (Michelle) of Drumbo. "Oma" will always be remembered by her grandchildren: Claire, Kevin and Christopher Van Wyk, Jennifer and Heather Peart, Lydia and Jordan Van Wyk, David and Steven Kendall, Madison & Emma Van Wyk. Lucy is also survived by brother Harry Ditmar (Julie) of Woodstock, sister Cathy Kossen (Marius) of Burlington, and many other relatives in Canada and Holland. She was predeceased by her parents, Henk Ditmar (1982) and Elske de Weerd (1946). Lucy was an integral part of Ted's dairy farm and she delighted in cooking and baking for family and friends whenever they visited. She also loved to sew, dance and listen to music. As per Lucy's wishes, there will be no funeral home visitation or service. However, please join us at a memorial open house to celebrate Lucy's life on Sunday June 7, 2009, 2 - 4:30 pm at the Oxford Centre Community Hall. Arrangements have been entrusted to Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, (519-539-0004). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
