WILLOUGHBY, Lorna May - (Oct. 31, 1921 - Jan. 27, 2004) - Peacefully at home on Jan. 27, 2004, Lorna May Willoughby (Buck) in her 83rd year. Born in Woodstock, she attended Victoria, Central and Woodstock Collegiate Institute before entering a career in Nursing. She graduated from Victoria School of Nursing in 1943 and worked at Victoria Hospital in London where she met and in 1944 married a young intern, Clark Willoughby, from Elmwood, Ontario. They lived in Lachine P.Q. and Ottawa before returning to London in 1946 and eventually settling in Woodstock in 1947. Lorna was "the wind beneath her husband's wings" during his 40 years of medicine in Woodstock. She was a member of the Woodstock General Hospital Auxiliary and the Ladies Curling Club as well as a tireless volunteer driver for the Cancer Society. She is survived by her sister Marion, her sons Paul (Donna), Brian, Larry (Tracy), daughter-in-law Teena, grandchildren Todd, Tawnya (John Casey), Mark, Karen, Megan and Matthew and great granddaughter Willow B.Casey She was predeceased by her father Lewis (1937), her mother May (1982), her sister Helen (1960), her brother Frank (1996), her husband Clark (1999) and her son Kim (2001). Following cremation a memorial service will take place on Saturday January 31, 2004 at 1:30pm at Chalmers United Church, Woodstock, ON with Rev. Don Linkletter officiating. Contributions may be made to the Woodstock General Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society and may be arranged through the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, Woodstock, 539-0004.
