PEMBER - At the Woodstock General Hospital on Monday October 7, 2002. L. Joseph Pember of Catharine St. Woodstock in his 60th year. Beloved husband of Alice M. Pember (nee Pellow). Dear father of Joe jr. and his wife Sherry, Heather Quackenbush and her husband Todd and Jay and his wife Kathy all of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of nine grandchildren. Dear brother of Margaret Springstead and husband Carl of Woodstock, Dorothy Armstrong and husband Keith of Oxford Centre, Ann Reymer and husband Steve of Goderich, John Pember and his wife Sandra of Elmira, Fred Pember and his wife Bev of Ingersoll and Larry Pember and his wife Yvonne of Woodstock. Dear son-in-law of Margaret Pellow of Woodstock. Predeceased by his sister Elizabeth. Joe had owned and operated Woodstock Ambulance Ltd from 1960 to 2001, was on the executive board of the Ontario Ambulance Operators Assoc., serving brother of the Royal Order of St. John, serving the community on both City and County Councils from the early 1970's to the present' being elected to 2 consecutive terms as mayor (1986 - 1991). Joe was also a past member of the Woodstock Police Services Board, the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, the Woodstock General Hospital Board and the Woodstock Rotary Club. Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 539-0004, Wednesday 2:30 - 4:30 and 7-9pm, and Thursday 2:30 - 4:30 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Woodstock Community Complex "Goff Hall", 381 Finkle St., Woodstock, Friday at 11:00 am.Interment in the Hillview Cemetery.
