With gratitude for his life, Klaas’ family announces his peaceful passing, surrounded by the love of his family, on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Woodingford Lodge in his 80th year. Klaas is forever loved by his wife, Christine (nee van Marrum), with whom he shared 50 years of love and adventure. Beloved Dad of Jaceline, Shawn (Amanda) and Ryan deJager. He was an immensely proud Grandpa of Tamarah, Bryanna, Devin, Nikole, Kody, Madison, Rylee and Scarlett and Great Grandpa of Colton, Bentley, Julia, John and Cheyenne. He is fondly remembered by his siblings, Tjitske, Fonnie and Oeds, and by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland.

Klaas was born in Holland in 1945 to the late John and Anna DeJager. After serving in the military, he started his life’s adventure working on a boat and travelling the world. Upon his return, he decided to visit his parents in Canada and never left. He met the love of his life, Christine, and together they raised their family, which was Klaas’ greatest joy in life. He was musically inclined, playing many instruments, and generously shared his gift with others. Klaas was a man who cared little for material things, but enjoyed people and he made connections everywhere. He was a longtime member of the congregation at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, and he will be missed by his friends and staff at Woodingford Lodge, as well as many others he met along the way.

Friends will be received at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church 735 Frontenac St., Woodstock, on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 11am-1pm. Funeral Service will follow at 1pm. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Southwestern Ontario.https://psso.ca/how-to-help/donate/
