WATSON - On the morning of December 30th, 2009,our mother, Kathleen Margaret Watson (nee Killen) left us peacefully to be in God's hands. She was 71-years young and was the proud and loving mother of her three children, Brad (Julie), Mike and Kelly and will always hold a special place in her heart for her three grandchildren, Jessica, Spencer and Matthew who will remember her forever. She was born and raised in Woodstock, Ontario and while attending WCI High-School developed relationships that would last her a life-time. Her 30+ years with her close friends at the Oxford Shopping News and Sentinel Review meant so much to her that she worked well into her late 60's, despite her growing difficulties. Our mother's community involvement and support was tireless. She volunteered for years at the Woodstock General Hospital and with the Kinettes Organization of Canada. She was passionate regarding her charitable efforts, particularly for the MS and Cancer Organizations. She was a surrogate mother to many of our childhood friends and a portion of their hearts will certainly be lost. We thank from the deepest of our hearts, Cathy and Glenna who were always there for our mother and her niece Bonnie, who never once stopped caring or calling despite living hours away. Our mother lost her parents, Robert and Emma, and sister Jean years ago, but, is survived by her older sister (Maureen) and several nieces and nephews. Although it is particularly sad that we have lost our mother way too early, we are at peace that she is no longer suffering from her cancer. Friends may call at the Longworth Funeral Home 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004, on Tuesday, January 5th from 7-9pm. Please join us for a celebration of her life on Wednesday, January 6th beginning at 11:00 am with reception to follow. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of our mother, please consider the London Health Sciences Foundation, in particular, those who helped fight her cancer: Haematology/Oncology Fund; Nurses Oncology Education Fund; or to Dr. Lorne Parnes, her long-time ENT specialist, whom she adored.
