SCHETTLER - Peacefully, at Nisbet Lodge in Toronto on Thursday, July 16th, 2009, Karl Alfred Schettler passed away to be reunited with his beloved wife Margaret. He was 92. Much loved father of Mary and Taco Tacoma, Stoney Creek; John and Janet Schettler, Toronto and Jane Janssen and Brian Redmond, Boston. Dearly loved grandfather of Emerson and Julie Tacoma; Sarah Tacoma and fiancé Pete; Amy Tacoma and Frank; Tim Janssen and Robert Janssen. Great grandfather of Connolly Tacoma. Predeceased by a brother John, sisters Katherine, Tillie and Carol; half-brothers Gordon, Glen and Richard. Born in Broadview, Saskatchewan in 1916, Dad came to Ontario as a young man looking for work during the depression, met and married the love of his life, Margaret Underhill, on Groundhog Day in 1946. He worked at Standard Tube in Woodstock from 1946 to 1979 after which he enjoyed a long and happy retirement. Dad was a self-taught woodworker and he created many treasured works. He was most happy working around the house. He and Mom bought an old run-down farmhouse in 1970 and turned it into a country estate before moving back into Woodstock in 1986. His legacy is one of hard work and dedication to his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends for his kind heart and gentle nature. A memorial wake will be held Sunday, July 26th, 2009 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the home of John and Janet, 23 Thursfield Crescent in Toronto. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice and may be arranged through the Longworth Funeral Home, Woodstock, (519-539-0004). Online condolences at www.longworthfuneralhome.com
