Julie Lorene Shipp

February 6, 1953 — April 28, 2023

Julie Shipp (nee Hanmer) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 28, 2023 at Woodstock General Hospital in her 70th year.  Julie was born on February 6th, 1953 in Woodstock and was a lifelong resident.

Julie was pre-deceased by her husband, Allan Shipp.  Julie and Allan lovingly raised three children; Cody Shipp, Tyler Shipp and Brooke Allen, who started families with Stacey Shipp (nee Perdeaux), Julianne Shipp (nee Hoffman) and Brent Allen.  Julie was a dedicated mother, attending numerous sports events and activities and providing many opportunities for her children.  She continued this as her family grew and was an enthusiastic grandma to Sydney, Chase, Kennedy, Victoria, Hunter, Lukas, Turner and Maddox.  Julie loved to spend time with all of her grandchildren.  She was never happier than watching her grandchildren's activities, having adventures and sharing her love of crafts and games.

Julie is survived by her younger brother, Darryl Hanmer.  His love and support throughout her life was very important to her.

Julie was a proud Canadian and loved the outdoors in northern Ontario.  Her happy place was the cottage at Chandler Point in Haliburton.  She spent countless hours sharing good times, good food and many laughs with family and friends.  Whether she was enjoying a glass of wine on the deck or tubing around the lake with a grandchild, it was her favourite place.

Julie had a love of travel.  She visited Ireland, Europe, Japan, Mexico and many destinations across Canada and the USA.  She enjoyed family trips to Florida and Carribean cruises.  She loved to experience different cultures and food and made new friends wherever she went.

Julie was a lifelong crafter.  She was an accomplished sewer, quilter and knitter.  She created many beautiful gifts for weddings, babies and other special events.  Each piece was created with care and was specially made for someone she loved.

Julie valued her family and friends above all else, and her only regret was that she didn't have more time to spend with them.
