Judith Lynne (Greenley) Chaplin A.K.A. “Mosh”

With family in her hands, love in her heart, and spirit in her soul, Judy said goodbye to a well-lived life.

Born in Oshawa ONT, Judy grew up in a very humble home governed by hardworking Melville Garfield Greenley (Brooke, ONT) and Irene Margaret (Wright) Greenley (Tisdale, SASK).

After her parents relocated to Perth ONT, she met and married her best friend (most days) and husband for almost 54 years, Norman.

When Norm proposed with a ring in hand, gallantly on one knee, her response was, “Oh Norm!  How will you pay for your teeth?!?”  Always frugal, she would remind you during this current environment to “waste not - want not”.  Get creative with your food and supplies.

They married Sept 24,1966 & Norm was offered a job with the Ontario Provincial Police in Woodstock.  They packed up their car and belongings and started a new chapter in Oxford County.  New car, new wife, new life.

After hopping from Woodstock, to Embro, to the 16th line in Hickson, and back to Woodstock, they moved their family to settle in Innerkip on March 15, 1979.  Best decision ever!  Thank you to all the amazing locals who have crossed Judy’s path, filled her world, stepped up recently, and also deeply share in this loss.

Born the oldest of 9, and often the caregiver to most of them, she was a hesitant mother, (been there - done that) but celebrated her children Christine and Bradley in every venture.  A solid and stand out voice at the ball park, she spent endless hours inhaling the small town spirit and joy.  Judy had the opportunity to enjoy 3 stunning and strong grand daughters, Hadley, Willow and Brooke, and we salute special neighbour and “extra” grand daughter Kallie.  Judy had the chance that not everyone gets, and she did not take that opportunity lightly.

Judy had a lifetime love of nature and “critters”.  She once gave mouth to mouth to a chipmunk - yes really - and rescued and nurtured many other wee souls.  The family arranged for her special Polly dog to have a few moments with her.  It matters.  Do not take the animals in your life lightly.

Her “I love you” often came in the form of food.  Wow she could handle her kitchen.

She went to great lengths to learn, research, study and share alternative health options.  She worked tirelessly to encourage others to open their minds and educate themselves.  Judy adored Dr. Jennifer Bonnett for her willingness to work with her new found focus and she found many new friends along that journey.

There are simply not words to thank everyone at the Woodstock General Hospital, especially the angels in the palliative care unit.  They went to great lengths and jumped through hoops to get us through Judy’s last week. While the world of medicine had its own challenges, those sweet souls moved mountains to make sure our family had everything (and more).  Long story short, we were treated like royalty.

Please respect the social distancing that the world requires, and the quiet space that our family needs. We can all heal and hug together when the time is right.

Cremation has taken place.  A private family service will follow at a later date.
