WILKS, C. Joyce – At the Woodstock Hospital on Friday March 17, 2023, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Robert C. Wilks (2019) for over 66 years. Dear mother of Terrie Wilks, Ron (Marion) Wilks, Debbie (Charles) Brush and Susan (Chris) Benbow. Loved grandmother of Jeff (Allison) Wilks, Katie Wilks, Vicki Wilks (Shawn Krafft), Andrea (Adam) West, Jacqueline (Kevin) Rumley, Melissa Benbow, Greg Benbow (April Andelfinger) and great grandmother to Ava and Brody Wilks, Aric and August West, Cordell and Cameron Marin, Caylynn, and Taylor Krafft. Dear sister-in-law of Bertha Salway. Joyce will always be remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Predeceased by her parents Richard and Ivy (nee Beauchamp) Salway, by her sister Shirley Stewart and by her brothers Harry, and Jack Salway. Joyce, throughout her life, worked in several places beginning as a fountain girl at Foodrite, Harvey Woods, a Nurse’s Aide at Rossdale Home for the Aged, Oxford Home for the Aged, and finally at Woodingford Lodge, also volunteering at the tuck shop there, upon her retirement. When her children were young, Joyce was a Brownie leader, and spent many years involving herself with local ACW and UCW groups. Her passions included helping her husband in the garden tending to their flower beds, long drives to find the perfect irises, loved travelling whenever the need or want arose, and spending time at the trailer at Stokes Bay. Joyce enjoyed watching figure skating on TV and listening to Country Music on the satellite radio. She gave her talents to various crafts including fine painting to finish her husband’s woodworking projects. At the end of the day Joyce and Robert could be seen on the veranda enjoying a good cup of coffee relaxing in their Muskoka chairs after spending their days together. Friends are welcome to join the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 4 to 6 pm and again on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:00 am where the complete memorial service will be held in the chapel at 11:00 am.
