Joseph "Joe" Moses

April 24, 1931 — November 11, 2024

Joseph "Joe" Moses, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on November 11, 2024, in Woodstock, Ontario. Born on April 24, 1931, in Norwich, ON, Joe lived a life marked by dedication, service, and the joy of simple pleasures.

Joe's early years were spent in the close-knit community of Norwich, where he attended Norwich High School. His formative years instilled in him a strong sense of duty, a value he carried with him throughout his life.  Joe had a distinguished career with the Woodstock City Police, where he dedicated 35 years of exceptional service, culminating in his well-earned retirement as the Chief of Police. His leadership and commitment to the safety and well-being of the community left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Beyond his professional life, Joe was a man of many interests. His hands were rarely still, for woodworking was both a passion and a talent, resulting in many cherished family heirlooms and gifts. Whether it was fishing or boating, Joe relished the opportunity to be on the water, embracing the tranquility and challenge it provided. The winter months would find him on the curling rink, or traveling. Joe's community spirit was further exemplified by his active involvement in the Masonic Temple, King Solomon Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion, organizations that benefited greatly from his generosity and dedication.

Joe was a man who could best be described as generous and handy. His ability to fix or create was only outmatched by his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was the quintessential neighbor and friend, always there with a smile, a tool, or a word of advice. Above all, Joe was a family man. He leaves behind his loving wife, Joan (nee Arthur), with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. His legacy lives on through his children, Rick (Terri), Cheryl (Terry), and Deanna (Paul); his five grandchildren (Trevor, Jenni, Alaina, Derrick and Mark and eight great-grandchildren. Joe's role as a patriarch was one he held with honor, guiding his family with love, wisdom, and a gentle hand.

As we say goodbye to Joseph Moses, we reflect on a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His memory will be a beacon of light for those who knew him, and his stories will be recounted with laughter and fondness. Joe's influence will continue to ripple through the lives of his family and the community he served so faithfully.

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us as we celebrate Joe's remarkable journey through this life and honor the legacy he leaves behind.
