John Harold Walters, known affectionately as John “Curly” to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on August 2, 1942, in Bright, Ontario, John's life was one of dedication, warmth, and community spirit. He departed this world in Woodstock, Ontario, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
John's journey through life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family. He was a devoted father to his sons, Mike (Jen) and Chris (Kim), and a doting grandfather to Connor, Abby, Kyanne, and Parker. His sister, Donna Phillips, will fondly remember John's laughter and wisdom, as well his numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his sister Liz Bender and his parents, Harold and Helen Walters, who instilled in him the values of kindness and integrity that he carried throughout his life.
Professionally, John retired from Thomas Built Buses in Woodstock, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor. His colleagues respected him, and many became lifelong friends. John's sense of camaraderie extended beyond his professional life as he was an active member of the Legion and the Navy Club. His involvement in these associations reflected his deep sense of community and his desire to serve others.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 2, 2024 from 2-4 pm at Brock and Visser Funeral Home (845 Devonshire Ave 519-539-0004).
