RAYCOVE - At his residence on Monday August 29, 2005. John Raycove of People Care, Tavistock and formerly of Whealan Rd., Woodstock in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Ada M. Raycove (nee Cantrill). Dear father of Peter Raycove and his wife Joyce of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and David Raycove of Woodstock. Loved uncle of Helen Bowen and Ruth Fox and her husband Jim all of Woodstock. Dear grandfather of Thomas Raycove, Roberta Thompson (Brian), Kenneth Raycove and Great Grandfather of Aaron Raycove and Amber Raycove. John was a member of the C.A.W. National Local 636 Executive, C.A.W. Local 636 Retired Workers Chapter, founding member of the Oxford Personnel Association, and founding member of the C.A.W. Woodstock. John was introduced into the manufacturing industry and at about the same time he was instrumental in bringing together the corporate industry and the strong U.A.W. union (now the C.A.W.) In an acceptable and top labour relationship by means of the collective agreement. He was one of the founders of the Woodstock and District Fore man's Club later renamed Woodstock and District Industrial Management Club. Soon thereafter he was instrumental in extending the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering into the Woodstock area. In 1960 John received a Licence to Preach from First Baptist Church and thus a recognized Licentiate Preacher by the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec. Later he co-founded the Oxford Personnel Association which became a norm in the larger industries as a department function. John's career in the Industrial Union and Church jurisdictions culminated with his membership in the C.A.W. Retired Worker's Club and church activity. In the Scottish Rite, John was raised to knighthood as Prince Rose Croix (the Rose of Sharron). John's mission here, was to proclaim and uphold the sovereignty of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the Almighty, the Lord of Lords, the I am; God. Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (539-0004) on Wednesday from 7-9 pm where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday at 1:30 pm with Pastor Ken Charlton of the Family Church officiating.
