John Paul Halashewski
September 8, 1946 — December 29, 2006
HALASHEWSKI- After a courageous ten year battle with Leukemia on Friday, December 29, 2006, John Paul Halashewski of Woodstock, in his 61st year, passed away peacefully at Woodstock General Hospital with his family at his bedside. Beloved husband and best friend for 40 years of Joanne Halashewski (nee Body). Dear father of Dan (Cathy) of Woodstock, Paul (Julaine) of Muir, Sheila Clark (Phil) of Woodstock. Loved papa of his "munchkins" Danielle & Nathan Halashewski and his "little buddies" Cole and Jac Clark. Dear brother of Pauline Krushelniski and her late husband Joe, Frances Pommer and her late husband Sam, Mary Smyth and her late husband Merrill, all of Woodstock. Dear brother-in-law of Janett Staffen and her late husband Butch of Brantford, Jackie Chambers and her late husband Mike of Woodstock, Jim Body and his wife Valerie of Toronto, John Body and his wife Shelley, Julie Kipper and her husband John Carlton all of Kitchener, Jayne daCosta and her husband Joe of Muskoka. Dearly loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren and special friends. Predeceased by his parents Paul and Fanny Halashewski, brother Stan Halashewski and his late wife Betty, parents-in-law John and Margaret Body. John successfully owned and operated John's Home Improvement and John's Pools for over 27 years. John enjoyed sharing his love of wood with his children and grandchildren and was a member of the Otterville Woodcarvers Club. Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 from 2:30-4:30 and 7-9 pm where the complete funeral service will be held in the chapel Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Cremation to follow with future interment at St. Mary Cemetery. Contributions to the V.O.N. Sakura Hospice House or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
