DRANE, John (Jack) George - Passed away peacefully at Woodstock General Hospital on Thursday, February 17, 2011. Jack was born on February 28, 1934 in Stratford, Ontario to parents George and Beatrice (nee Silifant) Drane. He attended Shakespeare Public School and spent two years at Stratford Collegiate. He was hired as an indenture machinist apprentice with the Canadian National Railway. At the end of 11,500 hours and the demise of the steam engine, he succeeded in procuring a job at Fisher Governor on July 15, 1955 in Woodstock, Ontario. He worked his way up in various management positions and retired after 40 years of working at Fisher's. He was predeceased by his wife Valerie Mae on January 15, 2006, a son James Edward on June 9, 1988 and brother Morris. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Christine of Toronto and son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Darlene of Woodstock, sister and brother-in-law Donna and Harold Knowles of St. Marys, and nieces, nephews and friends. Jack will be especially missed by his grandson Kenny who loved to watch train videos with his grandfather. A funeral service to honour Jack's life will be held at Dundas St., United Church, Woodstock on Tuesday at 1:00 pm. Interment later in the Hillview Cemetery following cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grey Bruce Health Services, 1800 - 8th St. E., Owen Sound, ON N4K 6M9, as he spent six months of the year living in the place he loved, at his cottage on Colpoy's Bay in Wiarton, or to a charity of your choice.
