Jim Haas

March 19, 1933 — October 9, 2021

Jacobus Joannes Haas (Jim)
In the early morning hours of October 9th, in his 89th year Jim Haas Sr peacefully went to his heavenly home and is now in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jim was born in 1933 in the city of Rotterdam and as a boy lived through WW2 which impacted his entire outlook in life. He immigrated to Canada as a young man where he met and married Grace, the love of his life. Together they raised three children.

Jim worked as a technical engineer for various companies before venturing out on his own, first raising rabbits which eventually evolved into a metal fabricating company…Haas Enterprises. He sold this business to his son Ed and daughter-in-law Wilma which then left him able to enjoy many good retirement years.

Jim was a real family man and welcomed every new addition with love as it grew to include spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jim loved well and was well loved. He hated disharmony and dishonesty and had an incredible sense of humor.

He was a passionate follower of Christ and very active in the life and ministry of the church until Alzheimer’s came like a thief in the night.

For the past 6 years Jim and Grace have made Oxford Gardens their home, Grace cared for, loved and cherished him until the very end. Jim will be sadly missed.

For 61 years he was a loving and devoted husband to Grace Haas. He was cherished by his children Jim & Judy Haas, Diana & Peter Slager and Ed & Wilma Haas and was a loved Grandpa and Opa to Melissa & Shane (Wyatt, Brynn) Scott & Juli (Tyler, Justin, Abbi, Hayli) Sarah & John, Jen & Stephen (Max, Nora) Amanda & Dan (Hanna, Chase) Steph & Dan (Emit, Aubrie, Seth, Rayna) Erica & Mauricio (Liliana, Luca) Lindsay & Tyler (Mya) and Kelly. He was a brother to  Nelly (Paul) DeRuiter & Martin (Annemarie) Haas and brother in law to Ria Haas and Bill (Joan) Oosterink. Predeceased by brothers Ton Haas, Ger (Loek)Haas and his sister Corrie (John)DeGroot and sister-in-law Debbie (Bill) Hesselink.
