RIACH - Surrounded by her loving family, at Caressant Care Nursing Home Woodstock, on Saturday April 10, 2010. Jean E. Riach (nee Haines) in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late James A. Riach (1998). Dear mother of John (Diane) Riach of St. Mary's, Mary (Dick) Sumsion of Burgessville, Jim (Pat) Riach, and Tom (Sharon) Riach all of Woodstock. Loved grandmother of twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and dear step grandmother and step great grandmother of six. Also survived by her sisters and brother in laws Verona Haines, Ruby Riach, Russell Oliver and Michelle Haines. Jean was the last surviving member of her family. Predeceased by her parents John and Rosa Magdalina (nee Schneider) Haines, siblings Lillian (Webber) Lazenby, Irvin Haines, Dorothy (Russell) Perry, Katherine (Murray) Ashbaugh, Nell (Joe) Bartlett, Eveleen (Cliff) Lamont, Harold Haines, and son in law Wes McFarland. Graduating from the Woodstock General Hospital School of Nursing in 1942, Jean married her love James Alexander Riach October 3, 1942. Jean was a member of Woodstock and Huntsville Christadelphian Ecclesias. Mom referred to herself as the "keeper of the forest" and loved her begonias, gardening, fishing, cooking at the cottage when the family came to visit, as well as decorating, sewing, and being able to "make a silk purse out of a sow's ear". A graveside service will take place at the Lock's Cemetery, Brunelle Rd., Huntsville on Tuesday, April 13 at 11:00 am. A memorial service will be held at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock 519-539-0004 on Sunday, April 18 at 1:00 pm.
