Jean Folan, a beacon of love and strength, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024, at her residence in Woodstock, Ontario. Born on April 11, 1956, in Lennoxtown, Scotland, Jean's journey brought her vast wisdom and warmth, which she shared generously with all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of courage, intelligence, and an unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Jean grew up in, Glasgow, a city she always held close to her heart, as the cherished daughter of the late Jean and George Folan. Her early years in Scotland laid the foundation for a life characterized by resilience and warmth, traits that would endear her to everyone she met.
Her adventurous heart led her to Canada, where she built a life rich in love and accomplishment. As a loving mother, Jean raised three remarkable sons: Chris Brouwer, Ken Dietrich, and Kyle Dietrich. Her guidance and support shaped them into the men they are today, each carrying a piece of her enduring spirit. Jean's role as a mother did not end with her own children; she welcomed her daughter-in-law into the family with open arms.
The joys of grandmotherhood were bestowed upon Jean with the arrival of her granddaughters, Claire and Evelyn. She reveled in their laughter and growth, embracing every moment spent with them. Jean's love knew no bounds, and her granddaughters will forever cherish the precious memories they created together.
Jean's professional life as a mortgage advisor with the Bank of Montreal was marked by her intelligence and integrity. She was a trusted confidante to her clients, guiding them with a steady hand and a kind heart. Her colleagues respected her for her insight and commitment, knowing that she always went the extra mile to ensure the best for those she served.
Jean's love for her close-knit circle of friends and family was the cornerstone of her life. She nurtured these relationships with care, making every effort to stay connected and present in their lives. The boys can remember Jean often spending hours on the phone with her Mum, reminiscing and sharing stories, while the boys couldn’t help, from interrupting her from time to time.
Jean's interests reflected her love for life and her Scottish roots. In her younger years, Jean would enjoy dressing in her finest attire for a night out dancing. Jean also found solace and happiness in relaxing at the cottage with friends, where laughter and stories filled the air.
Those who knew Jean will remember her as a loving and courageous soul, Jean's impact on the world was profound. Her courage in the face of adversity inspired many, and her loving nature was a comfort to those fortunate enough to be embraced by it. Jean's intelligence shone through in her thoughtful conversations and the wise advice she offered, leaving a lasting impression on the minds and hearts of those she touched.
As we bid farewell to Jean Folan, we hold tight to the memories and the love she shared. Her story is one of unwavering strength, boundless love, and a life lived with purpose. Jean's spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, just as the stars continue to shine long after they have gone.
