Jean Myrtle (Ward) Everson

April 3, 1933 — March 25, 2021

Everson, Jean Myrtle - With much sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend Jean Everson, who died March 25, 2021. Jean was born April 3, 1933 near Tavistock. She is predeceased by her husband Walter. Theirs was a true love story. She called him the love of her life, and he referred to her affectionately as Mighty Mouse. Mom’s boundless energy found outlets in bowling, cooking, baking, gardening, singing and reading. But her main focus was on her family, supporting each person in the way that each needed.

A cottage became a focal point for family and friends, and many happy days were spent boating, fishing, water skiing, exploring, eating, and drinking coffee on the deck. Although always ready to laugh and join in any fun, things became serious when cards came out for Euchre, or the Trouble game got unpacked. Her family soon learned games and sports were for keeps!

Jean is predeceased by her sisters Marie Cook and Grace Bryson and her mother and father Leona and Leslie Ward. She is survived by two of her three children: Randy (Rosanne) and Tim (Yvonne), but is predeceased by her daughter Rosemary. Jean was blessed with seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Special thanks go to Randy for his steady support and handyman skills, and grandchild Teresa Quipp whose expertise and unflagging efforts allowed her grandma to stay in her home for five extra years.

A few words are not adequate to sum up a life so well lived. Mom never backed down from a challenge. Mix concrete? Sure. Make preserves? You bet. Knit, volunteer, play catch, paint, and a thousand other things. And laugh. As her brother in law Harold Cook remarked, “Everybody loved Jean.” Amen.

Because of the pandemic a graveside service will be held at a later date.

If you knew Jean a donation to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser and Funeral Home (519-539-0004). Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed online at www.brockandvisser.com
