Safe in the arms of Jesus, John Bergman (Jan) entered Eternal Glory to be with His Lord and Saviour, peacefully, on Wednesday, October 30, in his 97th year.
He is survived and will be missed by his loving wife, Janny Bergman (nee Brink) of 71 years. Loving father of the late Patricia Jeanette Bergman. Much loved brother of Willy Van Marrum (the late Louw), Jennie Donker (the late John), Luke Bergman (the late Lies), Frank Bergman (Nellie), Tieme Bergman (Mary) and Hank Bergman (Heidi). John was predeceased by his brothers Jans (the late Corrie), Egbert (Freda) and Jan Harm (Teena).
John will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. John will be remembered for his love of music. John sang in the church choir, and was a church organist for 69 years. When he was not in church playing the organ, he could be found at home praising Jesus on his electric pipe organ. He was a faithful member of Maranatha Church in Woodstock where he served as Elder over the years. John also played a vital role in the Bibles for Missions Store and was often found socializing with the many people he met there. His dedication to the store bought many Bibles for those in need of the message of Christ.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 735 Frontenac Crescent, Woodstock, on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, from 5pm - 8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Church on Wednesday at 11am. Private family interment. Donations in memory of John can be made to Woodstock Christian School. Memorial donations and personal condolences can be made online at www.brockandvisser.com
The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff at Woodstock Hospital. We are truly grateful for their care and support to John and his family during this difficult time.
