SMITH, Janet Lea (nee Silcox) - After a courageous and lengthy battle with lymphoma, in her 62nd year, Janet ended the cancer and got her wings on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, peacefully with her loving family by her side at Victoria Hospital in London. Loving lifelong partner, friend, playmate and wife of Glen Smith. Cherished mother of Ethan Smith (Jessica), Kyle Smith (Nicole) and Karmel Smith. Adored by her granddaughters Elyssa Smith and Hannah Smith. Janet is survived by her siblings David Silcox (Alanea), Dianne Crawford (Bob), Daniel Silcox (Muriel), Joanne Birtch (Warren), and Andrea Silcox. Predeceased by her father James Lansing Silcox and her mother Agnes Elizabeth Silcox. Janet spent over 20 years working passionately at Woodstock General Hospital and took pride in a spotlessly clean OR. She loved interacting with patients and coworkers/friends. Janet was an avid dog lover. She also loved doing laps while swimming at Southside Aquatic Centre. Janet spent the majority of the last 17 months in the care of the amazing nurses, doctors, and staff of the London Regional Cancer Program and the Victoria Hospital 7th floor inpatient adult oncology unit. These people truly showcased the best parts of their souls. Friends and relatives are invited to a celebration of life at Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004), on Saturday, January 27th, 2018 anytime between 2 to 4:30 pm.
