BAKKER, Janet  Bakker (nee Stolk)         July 6, 1921-February 9, 2022

Peacefully in her 101st year, Janet Bakker (Stolk), of Woodstock passed February 9th 2022, into the arms of God.  Janet was predeceased by her loving husband Jacob, her son Hank and her sister Dingena de Wit and her grandson Robert.  Born in the Netherlands in 1921,  Janet immigrated to Canada with her husband and four children in 1952.  Janet and her husband built their family home in Woodstock and helped establish the Emmanuel Reformed Church where they served faithfully for many years, never wavering in their devotion to God and community.  Janet will be dearly missed by her loving family; daughters Audrey Crawford (Barry), Elisabeth Bakker, son John Bakker (Sandy), daughter in law Carol Bakker (Hank) and niece Lya De Witt. Janet was adored by her grandchildren, Annette (Robbie), Pam (Stuart), Steve (Kate), Paula (Rob), Mike (Brenda), Julia (Aaron), Lucas (Jackie), and Lisa and her 6 great grandchildren.   Janet will be especially missed by her best friend of forty years, Alice Wesler.  The family will be forever grateful to Alice for her dedication and friendship.  Janet and Alice shared a very special bond and the family will remember with fondness the stories of their adventures together.  Janet will always be remembered for her love of god and family.  Janet was an incredibly talented seamstress who loved crochet, knitting, games with her friends and Christmas.  Janet was formidable, brave and kind.  Her family will remember with fondness her wonderful sense of humour and infectious giggle.  It was an absolute privilege to have her in our lives and she will never be forgotten.  Janet spent her last four years at Chartwell Oxford Gardens and we would like to extend a special thank you to the staff who lovingly cared for her in her final years.  Thank you to the  palliative care unit of Woodstock General Hospital whose gentle hand and guidance was greatly appreciated. A private family service will be held at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock.  If desired, contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and arranged through the funeral home.  Personal condolences may be viewed and shared at www.brockandvisser.com
