James Robert Lichti, known affectionately as Jim to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024, the same date he graced the world with his presence in 1942. Born and raised in Woodstock, Ontario, Jims’ life came full circle as he departed in the same town that he loved and called home for 82 years.
He was a beloved husband to his wife, Joyce, with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories. Together, they raised their children, Stephen and Tina, with love and wisdom. Tina and her husband Yasmany Risco Barbón.
Jim's legacy continued to flourish through his grandchildren, Skylet (Chris) Best, Anthony Longfield (Yara), Jordon Schwartz, and Jessica (Ryan) Banks. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and was a constant source of guidance and support. The twinkle in his eye shone brightest when surrounded by his great-grandchildren, Amora, William, Titan, Aria, Caelan, Charlie, Xavier and Octavia who will carry forward his stories and lessons.
He was a cherished brother to Ken (Marjorie) Lichti, Ron (Mary) Lichti, Rosie (Vito) Wachowiak, and Linda (Norm) Morris. Jim was predeceased by his brother Ed Jr. Lichti, and he held a special place in his heart for his sister-in-law Marilyn Gibson and the late Bernice Rosswy. He is predeceased by his parents Ed and Lillian Lichti.
Jim's professional life was characterized by his long-standing service to the City of Woodstock where he retired after many years. Jim spent much time in his home away from home; the garage he built himself, spending many hours tinkering and building things.
