James Russell Wilson Walker

WALKER, James Russell Wilson - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Woodingford Lodge on Saturday January 16th 2016. James was in his 91st year. Beloved husband to Evelyn Walker for 61 years. Dear father of James (Cindy) Walker of Woodstock and Julie (Don) Housworth of Princeton. Loving grandfather to Jessica (Todd) Routenburg, Katelyn Walker, James Bradley Walker, Jaclyn Housworth, Kurt (fiancé Sarah) Housworth and Cole Housworth. Great grandfather to Emma, Sophia and Lucas. James will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Also loved and missed by his sister Wilma Gillies. James is predeceased by his brother Ken Walker, and sisters Kay Stuart and Leona Fletcher. James was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 52 years. He was a member of the Highland Light Infantry and was a veteran of WWII having served over sea's from 1944 until the end of the war. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing and gardening and many games of cards with his friends at South Gate Centre and the Legion. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join the family at Dundas Street United Church in Woodstock, on Thursday January 21st,2016 after 12:30pm, where the complete funeral service will be held at 1:30pm with Rev. Bonnie Pilkey officiating. If desired, memorial contributions to Dundas Street United Church or College Ave. United Church Operation Sharing would be appreciated and can be made through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home.
