MILLER, James - At his residence surrounded by his loving family and friends on Saturday May 25, 2013. James "Jim" Miller of People Care, Tavistock and formerly of Woodstock in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Eileen Ruth (nee Keatinge) for over 63 years. Dear father of Kevin and his wife Karen of Woodstock and Glenn and his wife Kimberly of Mitchell's Bay. Loved grandfather of Craig, Stephanie Robson (Chris), Sharie Griffore, Samantha Griffore and Stephen Griffore. Predeceased by his sister Ariel Ruth Miller (1932). Jim served overseas with the RCAF during WW II. He was a Life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. # 55, Woodstock, Oxford County Naval Veterans Association and the Woodstock Curling Club. Jim graduated from Police College in Winnipeg in 1946, then served with the Winnipeg Police service for 2 years prior to arriving to Woodstock in 1948. He served as Chief of Police in Woodstock from 1973 - 1986. He is a Life member of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police, the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and the Ontario Provincial Police Veterans Association. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Tuesday May 28, 2013 from 2:30 - 4:30 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service to honour Jim's life will be held at Old St. Paul's Anglican Church, 723 Dundas St, Woodstock, on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery. If desired , memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Parkinson Foundation would be appreciated.
