HUGHES, J. Peter - Suddenly on Monday February 17, 2014 in his 79th year. Beloved and cherished husband of Elaine (nee Wilson) Hughes for over 33 years. Dear father of Jeff (LuAnne) of London, Patrick of Florida and Virginia of Ajax. Loved grandfather of Sean, Kristyn, Hannah-Louise, Maggie and Ava. Dear son-in-law of Charlie and Leola Wilson. Loved brother of Pansy (Leslie) Pellow, Marie (Jack) Bryson, Eleanor (Donald) Shewan, Shirley Wilson and brother-in-law to Brenda Wilson-Hough and Dora (Gary) Mote. Peter is also survived by his many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Stella and Joe Hughes, brother Gord (1996), sister-in-law Jean Hughes and brother-in-law David Hough. Peter was a member of the London Men of Accord. He started with the Woodstock Chapter at age 16. His passion was Barbershop music. He and his wife travelled and participated in many of the functions surrounding Barbershop music. He will be missed by all who knew him. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Sunday February 23, 2014 from 7-9pm and again, one hour prior to service time. A memorial service to celebrate Peter's life will be held at St. David's United Church, Woodstock on Monday at 2:00 pm. Cremation has taken place. Interment later in the Burgessville Baptist Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBSQSA), Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Alzheimer Society Oxford County would be appreciated.
