Ella “Irene” Mitchell, a spirited and creative soul, was born on April 3, 1929, in Woodstock, Ontario, and passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023, in Tavistock, Ontario. Irene was a woman of many talents, a master woodworker, a gifted craft teacher, and a true Jackie of all trades. Her ability to fix anything that came her way was a testament to her handy and resourceful nature.
Irene a was predeceased by her loving husband, John. She leaves behind a rich legacy in her children, Carol (Doug) MacLachlan, Ted (Lee), Richard (Janet), and Dan (Darleen). Her grandchildren, Kim (Ian), Jason (Amberly), Stacey (Bill), Sandra, Andrew (Leigh), David, Shawna (Ian), Kevin (Jen), and Lory (Karl), will remember her fondly for her wisdom and her unwavering spirit. Ella was also blessed with many great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts.
Irene’s sister, Cleo, survives her, along with many nieces and nephews who were fortunate to have known her. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was the glue that held them all together. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the smell of freshly cut wood.
Irene’s passion for woodworking was not just a hobby, but a way of life. She was known for her ability to breathe new life into old furniture, her hands working magic as she refinished each piece with care and precision. Her creations were not just objects, but stories of her life, each one a testament to her creativity and dedication.
Irene a was not just a woman of many talents, but also a woman of great spirit. She was the kind of person who, once she set her mind to something, would see it through to the end. Her determination was an inspiration to all who knew her, a reminder that with hard work and passion, anything is possible.
In remembering Irene, we celebrate a life well-lived, a woman who embraced every moment with grace and tenacity. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, in the beautiful pieces she created, and in the lessons she taught us all. Irene Mitchell, a woman of spirit, creativity, and resourcefulness, will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
