Berry, Ila "Kay" Kathleen - After living a long and faithful life, Kay Berry, at 98 years of age, joyfully went to be with her Lord with a smile on her face and a song in her heart on December 2, 2021. Kay was predeceased by her parents Edwin and Ella Erb, her husband Ernest Berry and siblings Muriel Hoggarth, Bessie Blair, Audrey Stewart and Harold Erb.
Kay will be dearly missed by her 5 children Carol, Marilyn, John (Lise), David (Wendy), Robert (Donna), her 12 grandchildren Phillip (Wendy), Susan (Dean), Kim, Jim, Chris, Michael (Lisa), Jeffrey (Shannon), Laura (Mike), Jordan, Stephen (Stephanie), Sylvie (Brad), and Matthew; and her 18 great-grandchildren Lucas, Alyssa, Katie, Dan, Connor, Sawyer, June, Sansa, Benjamin, Chloe, Rachel, Jorah, Connor, Isla, Nathan, Creighton, Jude, and Charlotte.
Born and raised in Sebringville, ON Kay grew up on a farm attending the one-room school house across the road. Later having a love for people Kay went into nursing in Woodstock, ON. She followed God’s plans for her all the way to Quito, Ecuador where she spent her time as a missionary nurse, being the first nurse helping to found the local hospital. She spent many memorable years serving in Ecuador while her future husband, Ern, patiently waited for her back in Woodstock, ON. After they married in 1953 they settled in Woodstock raising their family. Music has always been a deep love of Kay’s, singing God’s praises and writing her own worship music inspired by her grandchildren, producing two albums that continue to blessed many homes. Kay’s incredible dedication to trusting and following God’s will brought comfort, joy and love to all those she encountered as she shared Jesus with everyone.
