" Enjoying the presence of the Lord, his Saviour and Friend" STEPHENS- At Caressant Care Nursing Home Woodstock on Sunday July 30, 2006. Rev. Gordon F. Stephens of Woodstock in his 77th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Lois Stephens (nee Taylor). Loved father of Greg and his wife Linda of Cobourg, Glenn of Toronto, Gary and his wife Brenda of Newmarket. Dear papa to Jason, Tyler, Ken and Shawn. Dear brother of Vern Stephens and his wife Gerda of St. Catharines. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Melvyn, Bud, Bill Stephens and a sister Mary Clarke. Dr. Stephens pastored four Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches during his 50 year ministry, including Oxford Baptist of Woodstock. He served at Tyndale College, Toronto, and taught part-time for many years at Central Baptist Seminary, Toronto. He was on the Board of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada in its early days; the Toronto Spritual Life Convention; Corporation member of Yonge St. Mission, Toronto; Vice President and President of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada as well as being a member of many of its committees and commissions. He enjoyed several interim pastorates in later years.Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home 845 Devonshire Ave. Woodstock (519-539-0004) Wednesday 2:30-4:30 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Oxford Baptist Church 278 Hunter St. Woodstock, Thursday at 1:30 pm with Pastor Brian Stewart officiating. Interment Innerkip Cemetery.
