Gordon Stanley Downey

DOWNEY - Peacefully at his residence on Saturday, April 3, 2010, Gordon Stanley Downey of Woodingford Lodge, Woodstock, in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Bernice Downey (nee Dougherty). Dear father of Barb Dennis (John) of Woodstock, Gaile Pippo (Marino) of Woodstock, Leslie McFadden (Dan) of London, Joanne Shelton (Robert) of Woodstock, and Gordon Downey Jr. (Judy) of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of Darcie Lee, Aaron and Blair Fraser, Matt and Chris Pippo, Danielle McFadden, Amber, Ryan, Caley, and Bryce Shelton, Angie and Laura Downey and great grandfather of MacKenzie, Jared, Madeline, and Eoghan. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and other family members. Predeceased by his brother Jack Downey (Heather) (2010) and son-in-law Norman Dennis (2005). Gordon worked for CP Rail for over 48 years. Gordon was an overseas veteran of the Second World War. Friends will be received at the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, (519-539-0004) on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 1:30 pm with Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Cremation to follow. Interment later in the Innerkip Cemetery. If desired, contributions to Woodingford Lodge or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Jeff Nichols and the staff of Mapleville wing at Woodingford Lodge for their excellent care.
