Gladys grew up on a family farm on the 11th Line of East Zorra Township. She married Olin Culbert in 1956 and raised their 4 children together in the village of Hickson.  She started her career as a bookkeeper/payroll clerk at Kitchings store on Highway #59, and later worked for Dominion Stores. Before she retired, Gladys was a property manager in the city of London.

Gladys met Richard Leenders in 1989 and later married in October 2000. They spent countless winters at their Florida home in Windmill Village, Fort Myers, where they enjoyed an active social life. This was a favorite vacation spot for her grandchildren, children and friends to visit.

Gladys was known for her warm hugs and her “love you” that was tacked on to the end of each phone call or visit. Beyond that unabashed compassion, Gladys was known to express her love through food - fervently cooking for all those who came to visit.  She loved spending time with family and friends, celebrating any and all life events.

Special thanks to the staff at Sakura House for providing kind and compassionate care to Gladys in her final few weeks.
