Gertrude May Currie

July 30, 1918 — August 26, 2007

CURRIE- At the Woodstock General Hospital on Sunday August 26, 2007. Gertrude May Currie of Admiral St. Woodstock in her 90th year. Gertrude was the last remaining family member of Robert and Isabelle (Harris) Currie. Predeceased by five brothers and four sisters, nieces, nephews and friends Maysie Brough and Kae Hoddinott. She was born and raised in Campbellville Ontario, coming to Woodstock in 1940 where she worked at the Oxford Regional Centre. Throughout her 36 year career at the Centre Gertrude held various positions, retiring in 1976 as the Co-ordinator of Infirmaries and Health Services. She is survived by a number of nieces, nephews and their families. Gertrude was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, involved with the Missionary Society, and Girl Guides of Canada on both a local and provincial level, as well as a member of the IODE Havelock Chapter and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 55 Woodstock. Friends may call at the Longworth Funeral Home 845 Devonshire Ave. Woodstock (519-539-0004) Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm where the complete funeral service will be held in the chapel Thursday at 11:00 am. Interment following cremation in St. David's Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Campbellville.
