Beloved husband of Grada (nee Ruiterkamp) Rood and the late Willempje "Willie" (nee vanVeenhuisen) van Asselt (1999). Dear father of Elly Zegerius and her husband Hans of Guelph, Wendy Prouse and her husband Greg of Norwich, Jenny Tonin and her husband Jim of Innerkip, Art and his wife Kim of Thamesford, John and his wife Dorothy of Woodstock and step father of Herma Savard and her husband Ron of Burford, Grace Bruines and her husband Henry of Woodstock, John Rood and his wife Patricia of Innerkip and Bill Rood and his wife Cheryl of Salford. Loved grandfather of Gerry (Liz), Ellen (Phil), Catherine (Andre), Jennifer (Benjamin), Tyler, Justin, Jason, Tara and great grandfather of Lilly, Gabriel, Naomi, Summer , Landon and step grandfather of twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Dear brother of Eef Zwart of Holland. Predeceased by his three brothers. Gerry was a longtime active member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, Woodstock. Friends may call at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Thursday February 22, 2007 from 2 - 4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the Emmanuel Reformed Church, 170 Clarke St., Woodstock on Friday at 11:00 am with Rev. Case Koolhaas officiating. Interment later in the Innerkip Cemetery.
