It is with great sadness that we announce that on March 31st at 4:30 pm Gerardina (Jean) Meyer (nee Maan) born July 14 1933 went to meet the Lord at Woodstock Hospital, with her daughters at her side. Gerardina in her 90 th year, lived a life full of gratitude for every day and all of the blessings she received in her life. Loving wife of Hendrick Meyer (predeceased 2017) mother to Winnie Reeve( Scott) Carolijn Verbakel (John) and Jennifer Johnson (Reg). Beloved Oma to seven beautiful grandchildren and four wonderful great grandchildren. Jean loved all things beautiful: A sunny day, beautiful flowers, time with her girls and family…and a good bowl of homemade Dutch soup. Up until her last days she used her iPad to communicate with her family and loved visits with her girls which meant the world to her. Gerardina is predeceased by her two sisters Ann Verkaik and Jane Horlings and her brother Brian Maan, and is survived by her youngest sister Irene Verkaik. Jean was born in 1933 in Bergschenhoek, Holland. After moving to Canada in 1951 with her family, they settled in the Holland Marsh. She met the love of her life, Hendrick and moved to Brampton. Gerardina loved to travel with Hendrick and wanted to travel so much that a trip in January was planned for Mexico, which unfortunately did not happen.
Travelling made Gerardina happy and she certainly saw so much of the world. On her death bed she asked her girls to pack her suitcase and to get her shoes ready.
The family will be holding a private celebration of life in July to celebrate her life and her 90th birthday. A garden party with flowers… her happy place.
“We are reminded how short life really is, and how we are just passing through. So, all the people you haven’t told you love lately, tell them, and live your days like you mean it. – Hal Sutton”
“Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me”
