Gerald Allan "Buck" Bloomfield

March 4, 1957 — December 30, 2023

Gerald Allan "Buck" Bloomfield, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023, in London, Ontario, at the age of 66. Born on March 4, 1957, in Woodstock, Ontario, to James "Bert" and Eileen Bloomfield, Buck was a man whose laughter and love knew no bounds. Buck's life was a testament to his enduring love and commitment to his family. He was the beloved husband of Rebecca "Becky" Bloomfield, with whom he shared 47 years of unwavering partnership. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Curtis (Lisa) and Tiffany, and delighted in the joys of grandparenthood with Damian (Kasey), Alayna, Breonna, Brandon, and Austin. Buck's role as a grandpa was one he cherished deeply, always ready with a joke, a hug, or a word of encouragement. He was the loyal son of Bert and Eileen and a supportive brother to Steven (Theresa), Elaine (Tony), Doug (Krista), and Carolyn. Buck's extended family, including the Charron and Bloomfield families, and his in-laws James (Leona) Anderson, Jaime (Tom) Popma, Augusta, Kenneth, and Tammy Anderson (Ray), as well as the Van de Waal family, held a special place in his heart. His familial bonds were further enriched by the love and companionship of his dogs, Mocha and Skor, who were his constant and faithful friends. Buck's professional life was as diverse as his interests. He honed his skills as a meat cutter before venturing to the Alberta oil fields. His journey also led him to become a truck driver, where he shared his love for the open road. Buck's hardworking nature was evident through his time with Cantario Brick and Stone and DeJong Enterprises, where he was not only a valued employee but also a friend to many. Music was the melody of Buck's life, and he was incredibly talented, playing many instruments with a passion that was contagious. His Friday night jam sessions were legendary, a time when friends and family would gather to enjoy his singing and the strumming of his guitar. Buck's love for the outdoors was equally strong, with fishing and boating being among his favorite pastimes. His trailer at St. Williams, located in the welcoming community of the Fin and Feather Park, was a hub of happiness and laughter for all who visited. Buck's adventurous spirit shone through his love for motorcycles and his enjoyment watching his grandchildren dirt biking, a hobby that brought him immense joy. He was a fixture at his grandchildren's hockey games and took great pride in watching his grandson play football. These moments were the highlights of his life, as family was always at the core of everything he did. Those who knew Buck will remember him as a man who was funny, loving, and generous. His ability to light up a room with his humor and warmth was unmatched. Buck's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness. Predeceased by his beloved in-laws, James and Johanna Anderson, and his brothers-in-law, Robert and Richard Anderson, Buck leaves behind a family who adored him and a community that will deeply miss his presence. Gerald Allan "Buck" Bloomfield lived a life full of melody, adventure, and, most importantly, love. His memory will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate enough to have known him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the joy he brought into our lives and the indelible mark he has left on our hearts. Buck's story is not one of an end but a beautiful reminder of the power of a life well-lived.
