MATTA, Gerald D. - After a courageous battle and surrounded by the love of his family, on Tuesday August 2nd, 2016. Gerald Dward Matta of Woodstock in his 79th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Marlene Dorothy Matta (nee Jamieson). Cherished father of Stephen Matta and Michele (Ward) McLachlan. Loved grandfather of Taryn and Devin. Dear brother-in-law of Blain Jamieson. Gerald is predeceased by his parents Stephen and Gladys (nee Readhead) Matta, and by his brothers Stephen Matta and Frederick Matta. Gerry was a past employee of Fisher Controls for over 40 years. He was a member of the Tri-County Carvers Association. He taught wood carving through his association and with Lee Valley in London. Gerry also had a passion for photography. Both Gerry and Marlene were members of the Oxford Rovers Camping Club. Friends will be received at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004 on Thursday August 4, 2016 from 2:30-4:30pm & 7-9pm. The complete funeral service will be held on Friday August 5, 2016 at 11am at the Knox Presbyterian Church, 59 Riddell Street, Woodstock. The Rev. Mark McLennan officiating. Interment to follow cremation at a later date in the Anglican Cemetery. If desired, contributions to the Make a Wish Foundation or a charity of ones choice would be appreciated.
