Georgina Eileen Elizabeth (Collins) Simmons

SIMMONS - Peacefully at Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll on Wednesday August 18, 2010. Georgina "Ina" E. E. (nee Collins) formerly of Woodstock in her 91st year. Georgina was born in Rotherwick, Hampshire, England to Ernest O.B.E. and Emma Collins (nee Liney) on February 17, 1920. She married her husband Gordon P. Simmons (dec. 2008) in July 1943, moving to Canada as a warbride in June 1946. She is survived by her sons Archdeacon Gordon Simmons of Sarnia, Patrick Simmons and his wife Kathryn of Ingersoll, Michael Simmons and his wife Heather Brian Simmons and his wife Beverly all of Woodstock and son-in-law Hubert Thiel of Zurich. Proud and loved grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Margaret (Dinah) Dawson of England. Predeceased by her daughter Mary Walker Thiel, grandchildren, John, Charlotte and Evan, her sister Joan Parrack and daughter-in-law Beth Simmons and son-in-law Richard Walker. Ina was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55 Woodstock Ladies Auxillary, Rose Rebekah Lodge # 43 Woodstock, CAW Local 636 Retirees and the Overseas Club. Friends may call at the Longworth Funeral Home 845 Devonshire Ave. Woodstock (519-539-0004) Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Christ Church Anglican, Oxford Centre on Monday at 1:30 pm with Rev. Bill White officiating. Interment Anglican Cemetery.
