George passed away in Ingersoll, on April 6, 2025, at the age of 86 following a well-lived life, with Dianne, his loving wife of 60 years, by his side. George will be lovingly remembered by Dianne and their three sons, Douglas and his wife Marjorie, Bruce, and Ian and his wife Jane, and grandchildren: Lauren, Daniel, Evelyn, and Cameron. George is also survived by Willard King, a friend, and brother-in-law, together with his King and Peterson nieces and nephews, and surviving McLaren cousins. George was the last surviving member of his generation of Sibbick/Stuart cousins.

Preceded by his parents, Lavergne and Jean (McLaren) Sibbick, his sister Betty (Willard), and Dianne’s parents, Robert (Bob) and Helen Peterson. George’s ashes will be interred in the family plot at Richwood Cemetery, adjacent to where he farmed his entire life before he and Dianne retired to Woodstock in 2010.

George served the community on the Drumbo Agricultural Society and was part of the group of volunteers who built the Agricultural Hall, and the Willett Hospital Board of Governors for a decade, ultimately serving as Vice Chair of the Board, and Chair of the Finance Committee. On retirement to Woodstock, George enjoyed Probus, the education of Learning Unlimited, and the fitness and fellowship of the VON Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise program hosted at St. David’s United Church where he and Dianne were also members.
