George Alvin Phillips

PHILLIPS - Peacefully at the Woodstock Hospital on Wednesday August 1, 2012. George Alvin Phillips of Woodstock in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth "Betty" Catherine Phillips (nee Baine). Dear father of Bradley (Wendy) Phillips of Trenton, Ronald (Paula) Phillips of Brampton and Robert Phillips of Woodstock. Loved grandfather of Andrew, Patrick, Heather and Danielle. Dear brother of Glenna (Winston) Batsford. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by both his parents, his brother Kenneth Phillips, sister Vivian Newton and his sister-in-law Lorraine Izzard. George was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force. George was an active member of both the Royal Canadian Legion and the Oxford County Naval Veterans Association. Friends will be received at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, (519-539-0004) on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday August 4, 2012 at 11am with the Rev. Jane Van Patter officiation. Interment in Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery. A Royal Canadian Legion service will be held under the auspice of Legion Branch #55 at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home on Friday August 3, 2012 at 6:30pm.
