George Douglas Gates

GATES - Peacefully at the Woodstock General Hospital on Saturday January 8, 2005 George "Douglas" Gates of R.R.#2 Vanessa in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of the late Jessie Gates (nee Baker). Dear father of Sharon Gates of London, George Gates of London and Anne Marie Gates-Porter and her husband Ron of Woodstock. Longtime friend of Mary Murray and family. Survived by his brother Mac Gates and his wife Ruth of Lakeside and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother John. Doug will be fondly remembered by his many hunting and trapshooting buddies. Friends may call at the R. D. Longworth Funeral Home 845 Devonshire Avenue Woodstock (539-0004) on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm where the complete funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Rev. Keith Nethery officiating. Interment later in the Lakeside Anglican Cemetery. Contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.
