Carter, Gary W. - Passed away at Sakura House, Woodstock with his loving family by his side on Monday, February 11th, 2019, two days after his 74th Birthday. Beloved husband of Barbara J. (nee Cromwell) Carter for over 53 years. Dear father of Ann (Ernie) Thorn, Deborah (Mike) Thorn, Mary Ann (Jerry) Vanderwal, Don (Bobbie Joe) Carter, and Tina (Terry) MacKenzie. Loving Grandfather of Brittany, Emily, Adam, Ashley (Matt), Michael (Cassie), Jessica, Sean, A.J., Sara, Kyle, Austin, Aden, Allyssa, Christian, Mikey, Tegan, and Great Grandfather of Lance, Chey, Kyle, Owen, Kierah, Hayden, and Keyannah. Predeceased by his daughter Wendy (1970) and by his Grandson Jason (1989). Cremation has taken place. Our father was a simple man, he never had much but then he never had an attachment to material things. However he did have one simple request:
"When I die, I want to be cremated, put in a tackle box, and then take me fishing."
So in light of what society deems appropriate on what is expected of us to do in times of a funeral service, we have decided instead to honour his final wishes, and take him fishing!!
If you were planning to attend the originally scheduled service on the 23rd, please know we appreciate it, but it has been cancelled.
