Frederick "Pete" Peters

July 2, 1919 — February 21, 2022

PETERS, Frederick “Pete” – Passed away at Parkwood Hospital, London on Monday February 21, 2022, in his 103rd year. Beloved father of Lynn (Dave) Wettlaufer and Leslie (Chris) Morgan. Cherished grandfather of Laura Wettlaufer (Josh Phillips), great grandfather to Lisha Harrison, Jhana Harrison and great-great grandfather of Parker Lee. Predeceased by his brother Alfred Peters. Pete was a veteran of WW II. He signed up for the war in 1939 with the London RCR and then he was deployed to England and became part of the Provost Corps. (Military Police). Prior to the war Pete began his riding career on motorcycles with a 1932 Harley flathead. When he served during the war he was in England, Germany, Belgium, Holland, and France. He drove Nortons and Harleys. After returning home in July 1945, he tried to settle down (in his own words) until eventually he bought a 1978 FLH. The years passed and Pete continued to ride diligently until he was 96 years young. H.O.G. magazine had featured an article on Pete, noting he was likely the oldest rider of Harleys in Canada at the time. Pete was always interested in helping others know of the sacrifice many made during WW II. A letter he wrote finishes with “I am at Peace with the World….” His sacrifice and so many others is the peace we have been able to enjoy for many years. Thank you for your service. A private time of remembrance will take place at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Woodstock later. If desired, memorial contributions to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund or Parkwood Hospital “Elgin Unit” would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, Woodstock, 519-539-0004 .
