Samuel Francis "Frank" Dyer passed away peacefully, his daughters by his side, in St Marys, Ontario, on Sept 7, 2024.  Born on January 25, 1933, in the small town of Wyevale, Ontario, Frank was a man who enriched the lives of all who knew him through his varied interests and generous spirit.

Frank's journey through life was one of dedication and service. During his university years at Western, he served in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps at the rank of Second Lieutenant, and after graduation, began his teaching career. For 34 years, he shaped the futures of countless students as a beloved high school science teacher at Clarke Road Secondary in London, Ontario. Beyond the classroom, Frank shared his knowledge and experiences through the written word, authoring several books, including memoirs, a biography of an admired friend in the Thamesford community, and a science textbook. In the last few years of his life, Frank was working on a historical fiction novel set in the 1800s about the experiences of the homesteader of Frank and Barb’s farm.

Family was the cornerstone of Frank's world. He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Barbara Dyer, and his parents, Alice and Gerald Dyer, as well as his half-siblings Ian, Betty and Margie, and brothers David and Paul Dyer (Jean).  Frank's legacy continues through his loving daughters, Dr. Brenda Dyer of Vancouver and Ruth Dyer Glendon of St Marys, and his adored grandsons, Jonathan Glendon of Toronto and Gabriel Glendon of Ottawa. His brother, Stanley Dyer (Marg Dyer), and sister-in-law Charlotte Dyer will fondly remember Frank's support and friendship, as will many nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Frank's zest for life extended well beyond his professional and family circles. His love for farming resulted in the purchase of Still Meadow Farm where he and Barbara put heart and soul into creating one of the prettiest farms in Oxford County. An avid fisherman, hunter, camper and snowmobiler, he embraced the great outdoors with vigor and joy. He and Barb enjoyed many wonderful trailer holidays in North America. His commitment to his community was evident in his active participation in church activities, Bible study, Book Club, Writer's Club and the annual UWO Bridge Building Competition. A woodworker and gardener, Frank found solace and pleasure in the quietude of his workshop and the beauty of his gardens. His intellectual curiosity was unquenchable, as he was a voracious reader with a particular interest in history, science, and religion. He had a wide friendship circle with friends of all ages and walks of life.

Frank Dyer was a man who walked gently upon this Earth, leaving his special mark of wisdom, kindness and humour. His was a life that exemplified the beauty of a heart that felt deeply, a mind that thought profoundly, and a soul that loved generously. As we bid farewell to Frank, we celebrate a life exceptionally well-lived.
