ERWIN, Fern Velma - It is with great sadness that the family of Fern Erwin announces her passing on January 17, 2019 in her 93rd year, after a short illness in Woodstock Hospital. Predeceased by her loving husband Lloyd (1993). Fern is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (Ed) Batty and Susan (John) Dearden. She was a loving grandmother to Jill (Darren) Taylor, Kim (Mike) Pridham, Jeff (Rosie) Batty, and Chris (Kate) Dearden; also, beloved great-grandmother and ‘GG' to Charlie and Jake Pridham, Cole and Chloe Taylor, Claire, Jack and Bennett Dearden. Fern was born on December 30, 1926, the daughter of Sarah (Snider) and Harry Heintzman, the youngest of nine children. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Fern was an excellent cook, baker, seamstress and quilter, skills that she passed on to her two daughters. The family enjoyed many delicious meals and handmade gifts over the years. Each grandchild received a quilt from her when they married. She will be missed. The family wishes to thank the many people who helped Fern over the years, allowing her to remain in her home. Your kindnesses are appreciated and will not be forgotten. As per Fern's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of her life and interment will be held later in the year.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or to the charity of one's choice, and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004). Personal online condolences at www.brockandvisser.com
