Fern Elva (Scott) Currie

Fern Elva Currie It is with great sadness the family announces that Fern Elva Currie (nee Scott) passed away peacefully at Woodstock General Hospital on May 31, 2006. Fern was born September 2, 1919 on the family homestead north of Tillsonburg in the Township of Dereham. Beloved wife of the late Laverne B. Currie (1981). Fern is the daughter of the late Richard (1950) and Hazel (1982) Scott (nee Tracey). Fern worked for many years for the Department of Health with the Ontario Hospital in Woodstock. Fern was a member of The Civil Service Association, The Quarter Century Club, The Royal Canadian Legion Br. 55 and The Senior Citizen Club #19. Dear sister of Floyd Scott (Tillsonburg) and Richard Scott (Ingersoll). Dear sister-in-law of Gladys Scott (Manitoulin Island) and Ralph "Buck" Quinn (Foldens).Predeceased by her brother William "Bill" Scott (1968), sisters Beulah Quinn (1997) and Dorothy Smith (2002). Also predeceased by brother-in-law Dick Smith (1990), sisters-in-law Olive Scott (1995) and Jean Scott (1996). Aunt Fern will be sadly missed for her love of life by several nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by her great and great-great nieces and nephews for her intriguing stories at family gatherings. Also survived by Laverne's children Don and Bea Currie (London) and Neil and Colleen Currie (Waterford) and their families. Friends will be received at the R.D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 539-0004, on Friday June 2, 2006 from 2-4 p.m.and 7-9 p.m, where the funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Interment at Straffordville Cemetery.Contributions to the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
