Erika Elizabeth Christian

Erika passed away at her home at Caressant Care Woodstock on February 16, 2025 at the age of 97. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Richard Christian (2001). Cherished mother and friend to her daughters, Hannelore Christian (Denis Couture) of Montreal and Renate Yeoman (Michael) of Woodstock. Dearly loved Oma of Sandie Mimeault (Dan), Robert Mimeault (Helen), Mindy Couture (Ben), Nancy Couture and Christine Yeoman (Joe). Proud Great-Oma of Michelle, Eric, Jessica (Matt), Gabrielle, Lucas and Jaime. Erika is also fondly remembered by her sister, Annaliese Pelzer. Described as feisty and brave, Erika immigrated to Canada with her 2 small girls to join Richard in Northern Quebec, a place she had never seen and didn't speak the language. Together they enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and making a life for their young family. In Woodstock, Erika worked for many years at Harvey-Woods making many friends, but her family was always at the centre of her life. She and Richard cultivated award-winning roses in their garden at home. She was known for her butter-cream tortes and cream puffs and was skilled at crochet, once creating crochet Christmas hand-puppets for each child in Renate's classroom. She will be remembered for her keen sense of humour, and zest for life (and her love for Tim Horton's). She was a wonderful lady, and she will be greatly missed.
