COWING - At the Woodstock General Hospital on Thursday December 18, 2003. Elmer William Cowing of RR#1 Innerkip in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Dorothy J. Cowing (nee Smith) for 61 years. Dear father of Elaine Stevens and her husband Don and Larry Cowing and his wife Mary of RR#6 Woodstock. Loved grandfather of Michael Stevens of RR#3 Woodstock, Stephanie (Michael) Park of New Dundee, Peggy (Paul) Bednarek of Kitchener and Amy (Craig) MacKay of Port Stanley. Great-grandfather to Elysia and Joshua Bednarek and Sonia Park. Step grandfather to Andy, Philip and Kevin Clifford and step great grandfather to Avery and Brett. Also survived by a brother Ivan (Donna) Cowing of Grand Bend and a brother in law Lorne (Ann) Smith of Markham. Elmer was the youngest son of the late Frank and Sophia Cowing. He took over the family farm upon the death of his father and farmed on the 18th Line north of Innerkip for 31 years. During the next 20 years he worked part time for Henry Zehr Construction and drove tractor on the farms of neighbors. Friends may call at the R. D. Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue Woodstock (539-0004) on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm where the complete funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday at 1:30 pm with Rev. Chris Little officiating. Interment later in the Innerkip Cemetery.
