MCMURRAY

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Elizabeth Mary Anna Innes McMurray -affectionately known as Libby. Beloved wife of Calvin McMurray (2006) and loving mother to Jill McMurray (Steve Roe) of Woodstock, Jane McMurray of Bermuda, Joanne McMurray-Kohl (Kevin Kohl) of Nova Scotia.

Libby was the daughter of George and Francis (nee Bishop) Innes. Her early years were spent on the family farm raising and showing her prized jersey cows. She attended Macdonald Institute at the University of Guelph where she formed lifelong friendships. After graduating she embarked on a 6 month adventure to the Canadian Rockies working at The Banff Spring Hotel. She returned from the mountains and began her career at the Oxford Regional Centre in Woodstock.

Libby married Cal in 1966 and they eventually settled near Innerkip, living in the school house they converted into their family home. She was fortunate to be home with the girls for 19 years and even luckier to follow that with a second career with Good Beginnings in Woodstock. Libby loved her summers at her cottage in Pike Bay where she would host dinners and cocktail parties for friends and neighbors. She was an avid learner, never tired of reading the newspaper, loved a good stock tip, was a bit superstitious and an Aries thru and thru.

Libby resided for almost 4 years at Oxford Gardens where she enjoyed playing bridge, meeting new people as well as renewing old acquaintances. She has been cared for this past year at Woodingford Lodge and we are grateful for the staff and their care and compassion.

Libby was much loved by her family and she will be fondly remembered and missed by all.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy a donation can be made to a charity of your choice (and may be arranged through the Brock and Visser Funeral Home – 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock 519-539-0004) as there are so many that deserve our support. But if you would like to have a little fun like Libby, you can try your hand at a slot machine or go enjoy a shamrock shake at McDonald’s (get them while they last!).

May the road rise to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
