Eleanor May Perkins

PERKINS, Eleanor May (nee Grieve) Entered into the arms of Jesus at Sakura House, Woodstock, on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the age of 84. Dear wife of Donald F. Perkins (married July 13, 2019). Predeceased by her first husband, Victor Thompson (2016). Predeceased by her parents, Harold and Hazel Grieve, as well as her siblings Bill (Gladys), Don (Doris), Bob (Edith), Jim (survived by Merle), and Kathleen Grieve. Dear sister to Marion Norton (the late Lorne) of London, Ontario. Dear sister-in-law to Merle Teel (Murray) of Lindsay, Ontario. She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, stepchildren, and step grandchildren.

Eleanor spent her early life in Brantford, Ontario. She was a schoolteacher for 3 years and then attended Central Baptist Seminary in Toronto and received her Bachelor of Christian Education. She was a Christian Education Director in Orillia and Waterloo. Then worked as a Secretary to the Faculty of Central Baptist Seminary (Now Heritage Baptist College) in Cambridge. From there she was invited to St. Thomas to teach at the Faith Baptist Christian Academy where she taught for many years. In later years Eleanor became the Secretary at her Church (Faith Baptist Church) in St. Thomas.

Following retirement, Eleanor did correspondence Bible studies with inmates from various jails in Ontario through New Life Ministries. Eleanor was a long-time member of the Gideons, and faithful to her church at Faithway Baptist Church in Woodstock. Eleanor and Don found love in each other in 2019 and enjoyed many things together including camping at Triple C Campground, trips to Lancaster, NY, and visiting friends and family. Eleanor and Don blended their first marriages into their marriage together and loved each other as though they were together for years.

A special thank you to the VON Palliative Care, especially PSW Heather Stewart, and to the Nurses and Staff at Sakura House, where Eleanor spent the last 2 weeks of her life. And to Dana Pastoor, Eleanor’s best friend, who faithfully visited her, sat by her side, and gave Eleanor a close friendship.
