Eleanor Gladys (Merritt) Hart

Hart, Eleanor – Passed away peacefully at VON Sakura House Hospice on Monday, July 18, 2022.  Beloved wife of the late Ian Hart (2022), and Brian Burt (1973).  Loving mother of Patricia Henderson, David Burt (Jane), and Gina Taylor (Tim).  Stepmother to Larry Hart (Leigh), Karen Kitching (Ed), Ellen Kaufman (David). Mother-in-law to Bob Tanner.  Cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Dear sister of Ria Laskaren, and twin Patricia Armstrong.  Lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.  Predeceased by stepdaughter Bonnie Hart, grandson Eric Kitching, brother Robert Merritt, and sister Jean Crossland.  Eleanor was an environmental activist, Raging Granny, teacher, goat farmer, President of Grassroots Woodstock, Vice-President of the Council of Canadians (Oxford Chapter), a key player in the Oxford Children’s Groundwater Festival, The Oxford 3R Resource Depot, and a great supporter of all causes social and environmental.  Friends are invited to join the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Sunday, July 24th, 2022 for a Celebration of Life from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Cremation has taken place.  If desired, memorial contributions to the Canadian Red Cross or VON Sakura House (VON Oxford) would be greatly appreciated.  Condolences and donations may be made and viewed online at www.brockandvisser.com
