EGILSSON- At Sakura House on Sunday March 21, 2010 the fantastic journey of Reverend Einar Egilsson came to an end in his 97th year. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anne. Also survived by their 3 children, Lynda Molleson (Ray) of Kingston and their children Alana and Brenan, Reg Egilsson (Marlene) of Woodstock and their son Nathan, and Collen Egilsson. Also survived by a brother, Albert of Brandon Man., and two sisters, Georgina Wade and family of Australia and Ellen Sutherland and family of Fonthill. Einar served as a practicing United Church minister for over 60 years and was also a chaplain in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Korean War. Einar's athletic accomplishments (of which he was very proud) included being a member of the Brandon Native Sons championship hockey team 1932/33. Einar also won numerous awards for athletics in high school and university and was the proud recipient of the Lou Atkinson award for basketball in 1930/31. His crowning achievement was being an active curler into his 95th year. An informal celebration of Einar's life will be held at a later date at Dundas St. United Church. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the care and compassion provided by the doctors, nurses, support staff and volunteers of VON Sakura House and the Woodstock General Hospital. If desired, donations in Einar's memory to these organizations would be appreciated and may be arranged through the Longworth Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave. Woodstock (519-539-0004).
